David Headland

Name: David Headland
Degree Course: Electronic and Microelectronic Systems Engineering

Background information

Final year student currently studying for an MEng in Electronicn and Microelectronic Systems Engineering at UMIST. My third year project was to create the scanning head for a non-intrusive system for mapping blood vessels in a human arm using near infrared light. A collimated beam of light was shone onto the scan site, and the diffused light was guided back to the scanner head, conditioned and sent to a processor. Blood vessels caused absorption of much of the light, resulting in smaller voltages. Academic fields of interest include digital system design, systems integration, software design and networking.
